Deep Steppe label founder Adam Rose has framed the label's latest EP - a split affair featuring contributions and collaborations from key contributors - as a dub-fired dance through the "sunny side of paradise". What that means in practice is classic-sounding, frequently tech-tinged late-night deepness of the sort frequently associated with the imprint's California home. Rose joins Krane and Miro on two tracks: A-side 'Yes Sensei', a funky and chunky deep dub-house shuffler that subtly builds in intensity throughout while keeping pleasingly heady and hazy, and EP closer 'After Effects', a more low-slung and percussion-rich affair marked out by bursts of percussion, squelchy bass and ghostly chords. Sandwiched in between is Miro's 'Gag Carpet', a thickset and hard-wired chunk of dubby tech-house headiness.
